OSP finds marijuana worth $9K in I-75 crash

MIAMI COUNTY —

A 27-year-old Kentucky man was arrested Monday morning after Ohio Highway Patrol troopers found hydroponic marijuana in the bumper of his vehicle worth an estimated $9,000 while investigating a crash involving his vehicle on Interstate 75.

Troopers at about 8:30 a.m. clocked a 2013 Chevrolet Captiva driven by Brandon Means at 89 mph on I-75 in Miami County. As a trooper was attempting to catch up with the vehicle, it rear-ended a commercial vehicle, according to the patrol.

As troopers investigated the wreckage, they found several bags of hydroponic marijuana that had been dislodged from the bumper during the crash. Means was also found to be driving without a license. According to the patrol, the marijuana found added up to an estimated 885 grams.

He was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center and has been charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of criminal tools.

If convicted, he could face up to two years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000.
