DAYTON —

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office confirmed Thursday that a 95-year-old man found dead in his Dayton home Wednesday afternoon was shot multiple times.

Police are investigating the death of a Oscar Beason, who was found at about 3:30 p.m. at the bottom of a flight of stairs, as a homicide.

Detective Sgt. Dan Mauch declined to say whether there was forced entry into the house at 1544 Hochwalt Avenue or whether there is a suspect or suspects.

His son Keith Beason, in an interview with News Center 7 Reporter Kate Bartley, said Oscar Beason was staying by himself, was still driving and was a healthy individual. His wife, Lois, also lives in the home, but had been staying with her son because of recent health problems.

According to a police report, Beason may have been dead since sometime over the weekend.
