A Fort Recovery High School accounting teacher and former girls junior varsity basketball coach was arrested Tuesday and charged with sexual battery, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office said.

Christopher Summers, 32, of St. Henry, was arrested and booked into the Mercer County Jail after the sheriff’s office received a search warrant to search Summers’ residence, according to a release. At Summers’ home deputies seized computers, cameras and other electronic equipment.

The alleged criminal conduct occurred between the victim and Summers at Summers’ residence and a hotel in a neighboring county, the sheriff’s office said. The investigation revealed Summers knew the victim from school and began a relationship that lasted nearly three years, according to the release.

“We have no reason to believe, at this point, that any of the criminal conduct occurred during school events or on school property,” Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said. “At this point in the investigation, we know of no other victims and no other information is being released.”

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case to determine if any additional charges should be filed.
