FAIRFIELD, Butler County —

A knife-wielding assailant took cash in a robbery early Tuesday at a Speedway during which he held the weapon over the cashier in a threatening manner before running off.

According to Officer Doug Day, Fairfield police public information officer, a black male walked into the business, 4511 Pleasant Ave., at about 4:39 a.m. armed with a knife.

He demanded that the clerk give him all of the money from the register, then fled north toward the city of Hamilton with an unknown amount of cash.

The clerk was not injured.

Day said a K-9 track was conducted, but the robber was not located. He is described as being tall and thin and wore all black clothing and a black ball cap.

He had something white covering most of his face and used white socks to cover his hands, Day said.
