DAYTON —

A man who was reportedly “highly intoxicated” was arrested downtown Wednesday morning when he refused to leave the scene of a traffic stop.

Dana Harney, 31, was arrested pending a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct.

Police were working at the scene of a traffic stop in the 100 block of West Third Street and had a person in the back of a police cruiser when Harney showed up, according to a Dayton Police report.

He was ordered several times to stay out of the street and leave the area, according to the report, but he kept trying to talk to the person in the cruiser. He also allegedly kept trying to get into a car that was being towed.

When police continued to order him to leave or he’d be arrested, he allegedly said, “Take me to jail then.” So they did.
