New Carlisle woman pleads not guilty to forgery

SPRINGFIELD —

A 26-year-old New Carlisle woman pleaded not guilty Thursday on charges of forgery and receiving stolen property.

Brittney Nicole Allen turned herself in to police after seeing her image in a story about her alleged crimes on News Center 7.

Police said Allen broke into a home in German Twp. and stole a checkbook. She then successfully cashed one of those checks at a bank for $650. Police said she was not successful in cashing two more checks totaling $1,300 at other banks.

Allen posted bond and was released from the Clark County Jail. She is to appear for a preliminary hearing Jan. 22 in Clark County Municipal Court.
