Report: U.Va. campus lockdown lifted

WISE, Va. —

A lockdown put into effect Wednesday night at the University of Virginia’s College at Wisebecause of a reported gunman on campus has been lifted, according to several reports.

At 9:28 p.m., students there received an alert from the university advising them to stay inside and lock all doors “due to an alleged gunman on campus,” according to the school’s website and the local CBS affiliate.

At 10:57 p.m., students received a last alert that announced “all clear — lock down lifted on campus.”

There were no reports of gunshots or anyone being shot.

Some media reports indicate that the Wise County Sheriff’s Department would issue a press release once the department is able to gather more information.

UVa.’s College at Wise is described as the liberal arts college of UVa. that has an enrollment of 2,005 undergraduates.
