RIVERSIDE —
Police are hoping the public can help identify the young male who broke into Stevenson Elementary School on Monday night, but quickly fled when he discovered the place was occupied.
“He saw people inside the school and ran,” Riverside Officer David Schmidt said Tuesday evening. “The school was occupied.”
The burglar got into the school, 805 Harshman Road, at about 8:30 p.m. by hurling a rock through a window, Schmidt said.
Adults were inside, playing volleyball. They saw him, he saw them and ran out of the building, the officer said.
The window will cost at least $300 to replace on the newer school building, Schmidt said.
Police have no real clues, other than the intruder, believed to be 14 years to 16 years old, was wearing a red University of Alabama hoodie that features the word ” ‘Bama” on the front and men’s skinny jeans.
If you believe you can identify the intruder, call Riverside police at (937) 233-2080, the tips line at (937) 233-1820, press 6, or submit your tip at info@rptips.com online.
