LEBANON —

A 48-year-old Dayton man who tried to rob an ATM customer was sentenced Friday to five years in prison.

William Jackson pleaded guilty in Warren County Common Pleas Court to aggravated robbery and was sentenced by Judge James Flannery.

County Prosecutor David Fornshell’s office said that according to police, the incident occurred Dec. 1 at the PNC Bank in Landen.

According to police, Jackson approached the victim from behind and demanded she give him $200 or he would hit her on the head with a hammer.

The victim ran and escaped unharmed. Jackson fled in his vehicle, but crashed and was apprehended a short time later.
