JEFFERSON TWP. —

Fire crews made quick work of a house fire Friday afternoon on Rossiter Drive.

The fire in the 1000 block of Rossiter was reported at about 4:30 p.m. A woman in the house told News Center 7 she was burning paper in her basement. When the flames grew, she tried to smother them with a rug.

Crews had the incident under control shortly after arriving on scene. She was alone in the house and was not injured.

A fire official estimated the fire caused about $1,100 in damage.
