Cruiser Cam Video Released In Fatal Chase

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio —

Cruiser cam video has been released showing Springfield police chasing a carjacking suspect through the streets of Clark County.

Authorities said the suspect is accused of crashing the vehicle in a wooded area, killing his passenger.

Investigators said Troy Wright, 35, was driving a vehicle that was allegedly taken during a carjacking. They said officers chased Wright with speeds reaching 85 mph.

According to police, Wright lost control and crashed in a wooded area on Upper Valley Pike early Thursday morning. The passenger in the vehicle, Claude Cox Jr., was partially ejected and later died from his injuries.

Cox's family said he did not know that he was in a reported stolen vehicle. They said he just got a ride with Wright at a local bar.

Wright appeared in court on Friday morning and pleaded not guilty to multiple charges.

He is being held in the Clark County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
