DEA Launches Web Site Targeted At Teens

DAYTON, Ohio —

Authorities said 26,000 people died from illegal drug use in 2002. That number is seven times the number of people killed in terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001

On Wednesday, the Drug Enforcement Agency launched a new Web site for teens called Just Think Twice. The goal is to convince teens that drugs are bad, especially meth.

Most people think of DEA agents arresting suspected drug dealer and users. But now agents are going after teens by encouraging them to log onto Just Think Twice.

The Web site discusses meth and all illegal drugs on a teenage level. Parents also are encouraged to also log on so they can learn if their children are in trouble.

Local agent Russell Neville said some signs that children might be using drugs is irrational behavior, staying up all night, weight loss and anything abnormal.

Agents are convinced young minds can be changed if they just think twice before using drugs.
