Deputies serving an arrest warrant at a Versailles home Thursday night ended up discovering a methamphetamine lab on the property.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday, deputies responded to 9690 Greenville-St. Mary’s Road to serve a misdemeanor arrest warrant on 39-year-old Edward Dingman Jr., according to a release. When they arrived at the home, deputies discovered materials used to make methamphetamine outside of the home.

Deputies obtained an additional search warrant and discovered additional items inside the home that are used to make methamphetamine, authorities said.

The Darke County’s Clandestine Drug Lab Team responded and neutralized and removed all hazardous materials, according to the release.

This was the second meth lab Darke County deputies responded to in less than 24 hours. Around 1 a.m. Thursday, items used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine were found burning in a ditch in the 10,400 block of Beisner Road.

It’s unknown if both drug lab incidents are related.

Dingham was arrested on the misdemeanor warrant, deputies said. At this time, no charges have been filed on either incident pending the return of lab results on forensic evidence collected at the scene. The case will be forwarded to the Darke County Prosecutor’s Office for review upon completion, according to the release.
