WASHINGTON TWP., Montgomery Co. —

A driver was transported to Miami Valley Hospital early Thursday morning after crashing his Jeep into a tree near Motter Lane and Washington Church Road, according to firefighters.

The man was driving in the area of the intersection of Motter and Washington Church around 2:35 a.m., when he lost control and stuck the tree. According to reports, the driver-side of the Jeep Wrangler struck the tree first, trapping the driver inside.

The driver was trapped for about 45 minutes while firefighters and other emergency crews worked to free him.

Snow was falling at the time of the crash.

Alcohol also is suspected as playing a factor in the crash, deputies said.

A condition of the driver was not immediately known, but deputies said his injuries are serious.
