DAYTON, Ohio —
Dr. Percy Mack found out Friday night that he did not make the short list of candidates for the superintendent’s job in Mobile.
Mack and four other candidates were in Mobile on Wednesday for a full day of interviews.
Earlier in the day, The Mobile Press Register newspaper called Mack the favorite candidate for the job.
Dayton Public School Board President Yvonne Isaacs talked to News Center 7 on Friday night said she said, “Their loss is our gain. I’m pleased that Dr. Mack is staying with us in Dayton,”
Isaac said she talked with Mack on Friday night and she said he is upbeat, and that the whole process gave him a glimpse into what is going on down there.”
The district told News Center 7 on Friday that their search is down to two other candidates.
The Mobile Press Register reported Friday night that the vote broke down along party lines. The two African-American board members voted for Mack, while the three white board members voted for the other candidates.
Mack said, all along, that he was not looking for a new job. He said the Mobile district contacted him.
