DAYTON —

Firefighters were dispatched to a house on Drury Street early Friday on reports of a structure fire.

Additional units were requested once the first crews arrived on the scene around 12:25 a.m., according to reports.

Firefighters said the occupants of the home had moved out several days ago, so the house was vacant and no injuries were reported.

Authorities believe the fire started on the first floor and spread to the basement area of the house. Firefighters said most of the damage occurred in a dining area on the first floor and in the basement.

Fire crews had a difficult time making entry into the house due to metal bars over windows at the residence.

An arson investigator was called to the scene and firefighters consider the fire suspicious.
