Fairborn Man Sentenced For Sexually Abusing Child

XENIA, Ohio —

A Fairborn man convicted of sexually abusing a 4-year-old boy learned his punishment.

A Greene County judge sentenced Jamie Rice to 19 years in prison.

Prosecutors said Rice was arrested in February for sexually abusing the little boy, and the age of the victim played a big role in his sentencing. Suzanne Schmidt said, "Because if the victim is less than 10 years old, there is a higher penalty upon conviction with a rape charge."

Rice pleaded guilty to 3 of the 4 charges against him, and then was sentenced to spend 19 years behind bars. Ten of those years are mandatory.

The uncle of the victim said,"I wish he would have gone to trial and a jury would put him away for life."

The relative said the little boy is recovering and doing well.
