Family, Friends Gather To Remember Shooting Victim

DAYTON, Ohio —

Family and friends of a 24-year-old who was shot to death Jan. 23 gathered in Dayton to remember him on Saturday.

“Demetrius was going to college. He was doing the right thing,” said a man who identified himself as Frazier’s cousin.

People gathered for the vigil prayed for Frazier’s family and friends, and also prayed for the perpetrator and the perpetrator’s family.

Police are still looking for the person who pulled the trigger and left Frazier to die along Layton Drive and Otterbein Avenue.

“The night before this tragedy happened I had an opportunity to speak with Demetrius as well,” said one of Frazier’s uncles. “Demetrius always shared things with me, but he didn’t know this tragedy was about to happen. If he had known, he would have handled it a different way.”

Witnesses told police Frazier died as a result of a drug deal gone bad, but police said they’re still investigating what led to the shooting.

Frazier’s father said his son was on the right path and he will not stop in his efforts to clear his son’s name.

“I feel that anything worth having is worth fighting for,” Murphy Frazier said.
