DAYTON, Ohio —
Trammell, 74, paid for his grandchildren’s college tuition, mortgage and car payments, rental property renovations and utilities for his girlfriends’ homes, according to the documents and reports from our partners at the Dayton Daily News.
Tramell's attorney is disputing the credibility and motive of the confidential informant who provided the FBI with some details of some of the accusations.
The affidavit was made public for the first time since the FBI’s February 2010 raid on Trammell's Dayton home and office, and the home of his daughter, Angela Goodwine of Dayton. It was included in a motion to suppress evidence collected in the raids, which was filed by Trammell’s attorney on April 21 in Montgomery County Common Pleas Court.
In January, Trammell was indicted by a county grand jury on 51 felony counts involving allegations that he stole $50,000 in taxpayer money for a home-delivered meals program for the elderly funded by Montgomery County.
He also faces a federal investigation of his use of Federal Emergency Management Agency money for a food pantry and domestic violence shelter that were found to be nonexistent, and allegations he and another man misappropriated $569,000 in funds from the national Southern Christian Leadership Conference, according to the Dayton Daily News.
