DAYTON, Ohio —

A fire Sunday afternoon has caused massive damage and temporarily closed a west Dayton Burger King.

Flames broke out in the Burger King at the intersection of North Gettysburg and Hoover avenues at about 1 p.m.

Capt. Matt McClain of the Dayton Fire Department said after their fire inspector looked into the matter they decided to call the cause of the fire “electrical, for the time being.” This is the initial ruling, he said.  "The insurance company knows the building better and they will inspect it too," McClain said.

The fire moved from the women’s restroom across the ceiling in void spaces to the kitchen in the rear of the restaurant.  The building was evacuated and crews were able to douse the flames before the fire destroyed the building.

The damages are estimated at about $80,000.  No one was injured.

The Combined Health District of Montgomery County was notified of the fire, which is required for food service operations, McClain said.
