Fire crews battle fire at Mercer Co. home

Home of Damon Randolph and family

MERCER COUNTY —

Fire crews battled a blaze at a Mercer County home for hours Friday morning.

Emergency crews responded to 8520 Hoenie Road around 9:30 a.m. today. As of noon, the house was still smoking, although no flames were visible. Officials said the fire likely started in a utility room or kitchen.

Wind was also a factor that made it difficult to put out the blaze, according to reports. The house is heavily damaged.

The state fire marshal is en route to assist crews.

No one was injured, although one person inside did burn their hair.
