DAYTON —

Firefighters have received numerous arson fire calls in the area of the 700 block of Xenia Avenue, and Tuesday morning was no different as flames and smoke damaged a vacant house.

The fire was reported around 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, and when fire crews arrived, they found a fire they believe started in the home’s staircase spreading up the walls to the second floor, District Chief Joe Meyer said.

Crews made entry into the house and put out the fire quickly, Meyer said.

Officials are attempting to pinpoint possible suspects for this fire and previous arson fires in the area, but so far no arrests in this morning’s fire have been made.

A fire investigator was called to the scene to investigate the early morning fire.
