Former Northmont Coach Faces New Charges

UNION, Ohio —

A former teacher and coach at Northmont High School, already in trouble over his alleged relationship with a former student, is facing new charges.

Investigators charged Loren Meadows, 35, with two counts of sexual battery.

Earlier this month, Meadows was caught with a 17-year-old former student in a car in Clinton County and both were partially clothed.

Officials said the sexual battery charges have to do with what investigators said happened with the teen inside Meadow's home.

Meadows resigned from his job at Northmont High School last week.

Officers from the village of Union spent Tuesday morning at the Montgomery County Prosecutor's office filing felony charges and they said even more charges could be coming as the investigation continued.

On Tuesday morning, Meadows pleaded not guilty to charges of resisting arrest and obstructing officials business in Clinton County.

Then, a few hours later, he was charged with new criminal charges. Union Police Chief Mike Blackwell said, "We were notified of a possible crime last Tuesday and started investigating immediately."

Blackwell has been on the case since Meadows' arrest in Clinton County last week when Meadows was caught with his pants down in a car driven by his former student.

However, the new charges have to do with what happened at home. "The juvenile was at a house in Union involved in sexual activity," said Blackwell.

Police said the 17-year-old confessed to engaging in sexual relations with Meadows at least twice in the past few months at the home that he shares with his new wife.

Investigators said they believe the relationship could stretch back for several years while the teen was under Meadows' supervision on the girl's track team.

Residents of Union were shocked at the latest round of allegations and the apparent violation of student-teacher trust. Clyde Curtis said, "I can't believe what goes on in schools today."

Meadows will go before a grand jury on July 14, where prosecutors could present even more criminal charges.
