Former prosecutor charged in fatal hit-and-run

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio —

A former Clark County prosecutor is facing charges after he was indicted in a fatal hit-and-run crash.

Prosecutors said James Berry, 81, struck 37-year-old James Pierce who had just left a bar and was crossing Springfield-Xenia Road.

Pierce was killed when he was struck.

The next day, troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol recovered a vehicle registered to Berry. He was charged with failing to stop after the accident.
