Former Teachers Sentenced For Theft

WEST CARROLTON, Ohio —

Officials said the two West Carrollton school teachers who stole thousands of dollars from the West Carrollton Teachers Union appeared in court Thursday to hear their sentence.

William and Mary Sommer faced the judge and learned their punishment for stealing $45,000 while holding offices with the union. The former teachers said they have learned their lesson and apologized to all involved.

William Sommer asked for forgiveness from those who were affected by the theft. The judge took the Sommers' past into consideration before rendering a sentence.

The judge sentenced the two to 50 hours of community service and to not be involved with group fundraisers.

The Sommers have already paid restitution for the stolen money.
