Investigators said the boys, William Doolin, 11, and Charles Doolin, 10, had spent the night at a friend's house, but apparently the boys' mother was not aware of that. Authorities said when the family of the boys' friend woke up and heard that the Doolin's had been reported missing, they immediately called police.

Investigators said the boys’ mother said her sons went outside to play in some nearby woods, but never returned. She said after a few hours, she notified the authorities, who then began a massive search.

Authorities from Miami Township and Ohio Task Force One spent the overnight hours searching for the boys using two teams of four people and K-9 dogs to help track the boys’ scent. Investigators also used a helicopter from Butler County, which has high-tech equipment to help locate bodies.

At this time, the boys are being reunited with their family and are reported to be safe.
