The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will go into effect at 7 p.m. Friday for the counties of Butler, Warren, Clinton, Greene, Montgomery, Preble, Darke, Miami, Clark, Champaign, Logan and Shelby counties in Ohio. Union and Wayne counties in Indiana also are included in the advisory.

The advisory will continue until 1 p.m. Saturday, as the Miami Valley is expected to be impacted by a storm that could leave two to three inches of new snow on the ground, the weather service said. Isolate amounts of around 4 inches could also be expected.

The highest accumulations are expected around Dayton, south and east, according to Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Erica Collura. Lesser amounts are expected in the far northwestern portions of the viewing area.

A Winter Weather Advisory means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties, with snow covered roads and limited visibilities.

The latest batch of snow is expected two days after several areas of the Miami Valley saw around 10 inches of snow fall.

Collura said the storm is not expected to be anything close to what the area had to deal with two days ago.

“It’s not going to be anything like the storm we just had,” Collura said.

The majority of the snow is expected to move out of the area by Saturday morning, but additional snow showers are possible throughout the day, Collura said.

The high temperature on Saturday is expected to be around 33 degrees.
