Greene County runs out of flu vaccine

XENIA —

The Greene County Combined Health District is out of flu vaccine, the district reported Tuesday night, but more has been ordered and is expected to be delivered this week.

Meantime, the district has planned two clinics, as supplies allow, for next Tuesday and Thursday:

* Jan. 22, 8 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m.;

* Jan. 24, 4 to 6 p.m.

Both sessions will be held at health district offices, 360 Wilson Drive, and regular childhood immunizations also will be given during these clinics.

The district is recommending that persons 6 month of age and older get the 2012-13 seasonal flu vaccine. Appointments are not needed for these clinics.

The cost for each flu shot is $25 for adults, $15 for children. Flu Mist for children is $20.

Cash and checks will be accepted. Medicaid, CareSource, Molina and AmeriGroup insurance will be accepted as well, and ID cards must be shown.

Everyone else will need to pay by cash or check and send a receipt to their insurance company for reimbursement.

Seasonal flu shots will continue to be available at the district for adults and children during regular immunization clinic hours on Tuesdays, 8 to 11 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m., and the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, from 4 to 6 p.m., while supplies last.

For more information, call the Flu Hotline at (937) 374-5657.

Clark County ran out of the adult flu vaccine on Friday, but has since received a shipment from the state and the health district borrowed a supply of shots from Montgomery County.
