GREENVILLE, Ohio —

The City of Greenville Fire Department announces that it has received the award of $26,101 from the 2012 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.

This is the sixth AFG awarded to the City of Greenville Fire Department. Total AFG funds awarded to the City of Greenville now stands at $1,031,917.00. The 2012 grant application was prepared by Lt. Russell Thompson.

This grant was awarded for the purchase of firefighting protective clothing and training. Both items have not been funded in the last two years due to budget shortfalls within the City of Greenville General Fund. The receipt of this grant award will get the department back on track with these two important items.
The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program established in 2001.
