Greenville police investigating infant’s injuries

GREENVILLE —

A 2-week-old baby is in the custody of the Darke County Children Services agency after authorities said the child arrived at Children’s Medical Center of Dayton with injuries that included broken legs and bleeding on the spine.

Greenville police said officers were sent to the hospital on Nov. 28 to tend to the situation involving the baby. In addition to the broken legs and spinal injury, the child’s arm and ribs had also been broken. It had also suffered swelling and bleeding of the brain and facial bruising.

It was determined the baby was injured in Greenville, according to police.

“Following further investigation by detectives from the Greenville Police Department, the case has been submitted to the Darke County Prosecutors Office for charges against both parents,” Chief Dennis L. Butts said in a release.
