Grenades Found In New Carlisle House

NEW CARLISLE, Ohio —

The Dayton bomb squad was called to a house in New Carlisle on Thursday afternoon, after family members found at least two grenades in a home in the 200 block of Prentice Drive.

Residents in the house next door were evacuated, for about 4-hours.

Neighbor Becky Williams said, " We knew that he had guns in the house, we knew he had ammunition in there but we had no idea to what extent he had "them."

A man in this house died early this summer. His family was cleaning the house out when they came across the live grenades.

The department of the Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm, Dayton Bomb Squad, Dayton K-9 and New Carlisle Sheriff all responded to the scene where the explosives were found.

The devices were taken to a nearby field and detonated.
