Hausfelds Honored At Alter Volleyball Game

By Mark Bruce

KETTERING, Ohio —

Months after a father and daughter die in a plane crash, their memory lives on in Kettering.

The Alter High School Volleyball team retired Kacie Hausfeld's number 14 Thursday night.

The first Hausfeld legacy night celebrated and honored Kacie and her dad, Tom, who both died when their plane crashed at Wright Brothers Airport in April.

Kacie played on two state championship teams at Alter; Tom was a dedicated dad.

Lorie and Ali Hausfeld were on hand and took home one of Kacie's jerseys. Both say it will help them to always remember two great people.

Lorie said, "They loved God, family and friends. They loved life and lived life to the fullest. That's the best legacy you can have and they did that. They are great people."

Proceeds from the night will go to the Hausfeld fund which will award a scholarship to an Alter student.
