MIAMI VALLEY —

More than 30,000 Dayton Power and Light customers lost power over the past day.

Officials from the company blame the power outages on wind and rain from what was once Hurricane Katrina.

In Centerville, 6,700 customers lost power around 7 a.m. when a wire went down on Lytle Five Points Road. Officials at DP&L said most of the power in the Centerville area has been restored.

DP&L said on Tuesday night about 16,000 customers lost power, with most of them in Xenia and Wilmington.

As of noon Wednesday, officials said about 600 customers still remain without power.
