A car sped through a Dayton intersection, hitting an ambulance and two other vehicles.
Witnesses said they watched in horror as the driver who police said caused the crashes drove away from the intersection of Edwin C. Moses Boulevard and West Third Street.
The ambulance was not carrying any patients, and the medics inside were OK.
Police spotted the suspected hit-and-run vehicle a short time later. The car was mangled in the crashes and broke down nearby.
Police said the driver took off on foot before he was eventually subdued with pepper spray.
That driver is expected to face a long list of charges, including resisting arrest, hit-and-run and numerous traffic violations.
Just before that crash, police said a Dayton officer suffered minor injuries when a motorist hit his cruiser during a traffic stop.
Dayton police and officers all over the Miami Valley are urging drivers to be extra careful this holiday weekend.
