DARKE COUNTY, Ohio —
The Darke County Sheriff's Office said a 9-month-old boy is recovering after nearly drowning in a bathtub Wednesday morning.
Deputies said they were dispatched to 4774 Brown Road near the village of Ansonia after getting a report of child face down in a bathtub and not breathing.
Investigators said the infant was taking a bath with a 2-year-old sibling when the mother, Ariana Graf, 32, stepped away for a few minutes to do some household chores.
Graf told police she heard the 9-month-old child crying and went into the bathroom. She saw the infant lying face down in the bathtub not breathing. Graf took the infant from the bathtub, pulled the drain and started CPR. Graf dialed 911 and revived the infant.
Careflight was called and took the child to Children's Medical Center, where he is being treated.
This incident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
