Internet Sex Sting Leads To Indictment In Fairborn

By Danielle Elias

FAIRBORN, Ohio —

Fairborn police said Travis Byard, of West Salem, was chatting online with someone he thought was a father offering his 13-year-old daughter for sex. The “father” was actually an undercover detective.

Police said Byard had online conversations with someone he thought was the father, as well as the daughter. He planned to visit to Fairborn on Sept. 8, where Fairborn detectives arrested Byard without incident.

A month-long investigation led to the indictment of Byard.

Byard was charged with one count, importuning, and one count of attempted unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
