HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

Sheriff's deputies in Montgomery County are investigating the slaying of a man who was shot in Harrison Township.

The shooting happened around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Northland Village Apartments. Deputies said 32-year-old Larue Bailey spotted someone trying to break into his neighbor’s apartment.

Investigators said when the man went to stop the alleged break-in, he was shot. Working on a tip, deputies found the 28-year-old suspect on Northcutt Place a few minutes later.

Officers are now searching for a second suspect, 20-year-old Diamond Washington. Investigators said they have filed a felonious assault warrant against Washington. They said they believe he took part in the shooting that killed Bailey.

"I don't want to classify him as armed and dangerous, but he was involved in a shooting incident, so I would say to someone that you'd certainly want to approach with caution," said Major Greg Laravie.

Officers are not releasing the name of the first suspect arrested Tuesday. They said that man is in the Montgomery County jail, but he has not been officially charged.
