Staff Report

MIAMISBURG —

Some Miami Valley neighborhoods saw some welcome rain Sunday night from what was left of the former Hurricane Isaac. Other areas remained dry.

News Center 7’s John Bedell was out checking conditions Sunday. He said drivers in Miamisburg were turning head lights on earlier than usual because of the dark skies. The wiper blades came on soon after.

Byron Boggs is a former Miamisburg resident. He lives in West Virginia now, but is in the area to visit relatives for the Labor Day weekend. He knows how desperately the area needs rain, describing the ground as “very crunchy.”

Bedell reported some rain in Germantown as well.

Most of the remaining shower activity will be south of Dayton, according to Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Erica Collura. She said shower chances will decrease overnight into Monday morning. But she added that Isaac will still bring some rain to the area Monday and Tuesday.

Rain totals over the weekend ranged from barely anything to downpours. Collura said two to three inches of rain were reported in Versailles and Huber Heights. Wilmington and areas of Warren County received barely any rain at all.

Temperatures will stay in the low to mid 80s for the week, according to Collura.
