Jailed Suspect Faces New Charges For Alleged Murder-For-Hire Plot

HAMILTON, Ohio —

A Miami Valley man who is already in jail and awaiting trial on charges that he tried to kill his wife twice, is now charged with trying to hire a hit man to kill her, according to authorities.

Christopher Rezos, 35, was indicted Wednesday on three counts of attempted murder. Investigators said Rezos tried to hire a hit man to kill his wife, her mother and her brother while he was still in the Butler County Jail.

Authorities said the hit man turned out to be an undercover deputy sheriff. Investigators said the family was informed of the alleged plot and were not harmed.

Defense lawyer Jerry Bryant said Rezos will plead not guilty by reason of insanity to the new charges. Rezos also pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the earlier charges that he tried to kill his wife, Amy.
