Jill Biden, Labor Secretary to be in Centerville today

Staff Report

CENTERVILLE, Ohio —

Dr. Jill Biden and U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis will visit Centerville today as part of a three-day regional bus tour to highlight the role of community colleges in developing a workforce to meet the needs of regional businesess.

Solis and the wife of Vice President Joe Biden will tour the production line at DG Medical in Centerville at 1:30 p.m., a company that is a workforce development partner with Sinclair Community College and BioOhio.

Dr. Biden, a community college instructor for 18 years, and Solis, who began her career in public service as a community college trustee, will hear from students, educators, and employers driving these partnerships.

Before their stop in Centerville, the tour will begin at the Columbus State Community College Center for Workforce Development. Other stops Wednesday include Cincinnati  State Technical and Community College to hear how Labor Department funding is helping expand the health careers collaborative and the UPS Freight facility in Lexington, Ky
