DAYTON —

The Red Cross is helping a family of five after a fire damaged their apartment Wednesday.

Crews were dispatched at approximately 5:30 p.m. to a four-unit apartment building at 202 E. Bruce Ave.

The fire started in the kitchen of one of the units where two adults and three children reside, according to a Dayton fire official.

No other units in the building were damaged, but the family in the damaged apartment will not be able to stay there because of smoke and water damage, according to the fire official.

The cause remains under investigation.
