DAYTON —

One person had to be cut out of a minivan that was knocked on its side Friday night when a vehicle slammed into it while turning
at South Jefferson Street at East Washington Avenue.

The vehicle that was turning apparently failed to yield and hit the minivan at about 7:19 p.m., leaving one person trapped in the minvan, a Dayton fire official said.

Firefighters had to use a mechanical device to free the person from the wreckage. That person was taken to a hospital.

No one in the other vehicle was seriously hurt. It was not immediately clear how many people, beyond the two drivers, were involved in the wreck.
