Letter Carriers Collect 131,000 Pounds Of Food

DAYTON, Ohio —

Earlier this month, local letter carriers collected bags of food for the hungry, and on Friday the amount of food that was collected was released.

The National Association of Letter Carriers announced that more than 131,000 pounds of food was donated to the Foodbank.

Letter carriers collected food items during this year’s Stamp Out Hunger. That is when residents leave donations along with their mail for carriers to pick up.

The program started in 1992, and it was the largest single-day food drive in the nation.
