DAYTON, Ohio —

A man has died after being assaulted late Friday night. He was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and died Sunday.

Dayton Police Lt. Donald Burden said a group of 3 or 4 men began arguing with Archie Bowling, 41 and it escalated into an assault in the 3600 block of Linden Avenue.

After the assault, Burden said the people took off and Bowling was critically injured, according to Burden. A spokesperson from both the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office and Miami Valley Hospital confirmed Bowling’s death Sunday afternoon.

Burden said there were no guns or knives involved, but added that the victim may have been attacked with a blunt object.

He said officers hope to look at surveillance video. Burden is also asking anyone who might have witnessed the assault to contact Dayton police at 333-COPS.
