More than $6,000 in items — including roughly 100 DVDs — were reported stolen from a house on the 1800 block of Kipling Drive Friday evening.
Dayton police responded to the burglary at about midnight on Saturday, according to a Dayton police report. They met with a 58-year-old man who said as soon as he returned to his residence he knew something was wrong as a rear window screen was laying on the ground.
The man said he went to a school function in Trotwood and left his residence around 5 p.m. He told police his residence is connected to an alarm system, but it wasn’t activated before he left because he didn’t think he would be gone long.
He also said he has been remodeling another home and has been away from his residence more often than usual as a result. Additionally, the man reported to police that the vacant house next door had been broken into recently.
The police report noted that approximately 100 DVDs were missing, a GPS system, i-Pad, two coats, laptop, nail gun, 52-inch TV, 42-inch TV, and three firearms were among the items missing.
