WEST LIBERTY, Champaign County —

The female driver of a minivan suffered non life-threatening injuries after a two-car crash Friday evening in front of the West Liberty-Salem Local Schools campus.

The crash happened at about 5:30 p.m. when a Honda Civic driven by a male turned left from the school's driveway onto U.S. 68 north and into the path of the southbound Honda Odyssey driven by the female, Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Ken Schirg said.

She suffered head and chest injuries and was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight as a precaution, said Assistant Chief Conrad Hostetler, West Liberty Fire Department.

The male driver reportedly suffered minor injuries and was driven to Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine by a family member, Trooper Schirg said.

The names of the victims were not immediately released. No other injuries were reported.

The driver of the Civic will likely be cited with failure to yield for a stop sign, Schirg said. The investigation is being conducted by OSP's Springfield Post.
