GERMANTOWN, Ohio —

Two men were taken to Miami Valley Hospital following a near head-on crash in the 14,000 block of Ohio 725 in Germantown that a first responder said was not considered to be weather related.

Emergency crews were dispatched to 14335 State Route 725, near Shimp Road, at about 5:23 p.m. Friday on a report of a crash with injuries.

Chief Dan Alldred, Germantown fire and EMS, said both males were driving SUVs that collided at high speed. He had no information regarding who might have been at fault, but did say it did not appear that alcohol was involved. Any possible citations or charges would have to come through police, he said.

One victim was taken to the hospital via Careflight, suffering from a head injury, Alldred said. That victim was trapped in the wreckage for a time and had to be extricated by rescue personnel, Alldred said.

The other victim was taken to a local hospital via ground ambulance, suffering from several fractures, Alldred said.

Severa crashes were reported throughut the Miami Valley Friday night as the area was blanketed with snow and ice.
