Smithville Road crash

DAYTON, Ohio —

An early-morning crash near the intersection of Linden Avenue and Smithville Road caused minor injuries, and has police looking for three people.

The crash happened around 1 a.m. Thursday when a pick-up truck was driving south on Smithville Road and a Jeep traveling west on Linden Avenue collided when the Jeep ran a red light, police said.  The Jeep ended up flipping and one person in the pick-up suffered minor injuries.

"We believe speed is going to be a factor, but until we get a chance to talk to the other individuals we won't know if alcohol was involved," said Sgt. David A. Matthews.

Three men were inside the Jeep when the crash happened, but they jumped out following the collision  and fled the scene, police said.

Medics responded to a foot injury that was reported approximately 30 minutes after the crash about a block from the scene.  The person would not say if they were involved in the crash, so officers are still looking for those three men.

The crash remains under investigation.
