Staff Report

MIAMISBURG —

One man has died following a five-vehicle crash Monday evening at Ohio 725 east and the off-ramp from Interstate 75 south.

Fairborn resident Robert Halsall, 68, was rushed to Kettering Hospital after the accident and died during surgery, according to the Montgomery County Coroner. The cause of the death is still under investigation.

Police received a call at about 4:30 p.m. Monday after the driver of a silver van came off the ramp, drove over a curb and hit a car. This started a chain reaction involving three other vehicles and ended with as many as five people being taken to area hospitals, Miamisburg Sgt. William Kelly said.

The driver who was arrested pulled into a nearby Bob Evans restaurant, where he and his passenger were found attempting to elude police on foot. Police took the driver into custody on a charge of Operating a Vehicle while Intoxcicated and possibly aggravated vehicular assault, Kelly said.
