BELLEFONTAINE —

The Logan County Joint Drug Task Force is continuing its investigation into drug trafficking after the seizure this week of 50 individual doses of black tar heroin and the arrests of two people.

The task force discovered 32 units of the opiate -- police refer to the doses as units -- on Marcus Wilkerson, 29, of Heritage Court in Bellefontaine, when they arrested him after a pursuit in the city's north end on Thursday.

He had been sought on a drug trafficking warrant. Authorities tried to serve it at the Bellefontaine Inn, 1134 N. Main St., when Wilkerson fled in a blue Chevrolet Camaro.

He gave up two streets later when an officer initiated a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Rush Avenue. That is where police seized the doses of heroin, which were in a plastic bag.

Wilkerson was taken into custody on felony counts of trafficking and possession as well asĀ  fleeing and eluding, according to Sgt. Allen Shields.

Wilkerson's passenger, 23-year-old Roy Bolling of Mt. Victory, was arrested on a warrant from Union County for drug possession.

Police discovered 18 units of heroin on a second passenger, 21-year-old Brandi Henry, also of Mt. Victory, when they questioned her. Police discovered she had used her body to concealed the opiates. She was not charged.
